In 1984 I was designated as a Certified Computing Professional by the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals (ICCP). The designation was originally called "Certified Data Processor" or CDP. I passed the exam on the first attempt and was one of 1,442 successful applicants out of 4,238 who took the exam that year.Later I was designated as a Certified Systems Professional. In 1984 a total of 25,700 individuals had been awarded the CDP. Periodic recertification is required to keep your designation current. I've kept mine current.
