• Directions to my university office arriving from the North by Interstate 95 South - coming from Washington, Fredericksburg, etc.

Directions to my university office arriving from the North by Interstate 95 South - coming from Washington, Fredericksburg, etc.

1. Take I-95 South to Richmond.
2. As you get close to Richmond, look for an exit marked "Route 1 Belvidere Street" It is just past the "Boulevard" exit where you will see the Diamond (Richmond's baseball park) off to the right if it is daylight or if the park is lite up for a game).
3. Exit at "Route 1 Belvidere Street" to the right.
4. When you exit at "Route 1" get in to the left lane.
5. At the end of the exit ramp, take a left at the stop light from the exit ramp on to Leigh Street.
6. Get into the right lane west on to Leigh Street
7. Make a right at the next light. The right turn will put you southbound on Route 1.
8. Continue on Route 1 south for 5 (five) traffic lights.
9. The fifth (5th) traffic light will be Main Street crossing Route 1. Make a right turn from Route 1 on to Main Street heading West.
10. Proceed three blocks to the the intersection of Main Street and Laurel Street. (The Richmond Landmark Theater is located to the right.)
11. Make a left from Main Street on to Laurel Street.
12. The Main Street Parking Deck entrance is half way down the right-hand side of Laurel Street.
13. Proceed on foot to the Business Building.

Directions to my university office arriving from the South by Interstate 95 Nouth - coming from Petersburg, North Carolina, etc.

1. Take I-95 North towards Richmond.
2. As you cross the James River Bridge, get in to the right lane of I-95 North and watch for the landmark clock tower to appear over top of an overpass on the right. That is the signal to exit to locate the I-195 North exit.
3. Exit to the right at I-195 North.
4. Proceeed on I-195 north for just a mile and look for the exit marked "Route 1 Belvidere Street."
5. Exit I-195 to the right on to Canal Street. There is an unmanned $0.25 toll at the exit.
6. Proceed west along Canal Street to the stop light at the intersection of Canal Street and Route 1 Belvidere Street,
7. When safe, proceed across Route 1 Belvidere Street.
8. After four blocks turn right from Canal Street on to Cherry Street.
9. Proceed two blocks north on Cherry Street.
10. The second block will have stop sign marking the intersection of Cherry Street and Cary Street.
11. Cross Cary Street and look for the entrace to the Main Street Parking Deck entrance half way down the right-hand side of Cherry Street.
12. Proceed on foot to the Business Building.

The Business Building

Once you park in the parking deck, please walk the remaining two blocks West on Main Street to the Business Building (shown in yellow on the map below). My office is on the fourth floor - room 4170 is mid-way along the Floyd Avenue side of the Business Building.

Directions to my home office from the north of Richmond - coming from Washington, Fredericksburg, etc.:

1. Take I-95 South to Richmond.
2. As you get close to Richmond, look for an exit marked "301 Chamberlyn Avenue." It is just past the "Interstate-295" exit.
3. The next exit after 301 Chamberlyn Avenue is a right exit Exit #79 labeled "I-195 South and I-64 West." Slow down as the exit takes a sharp turn to the right and immediately move into the left lane because the road splits with I-195 splitting off to the left and I-64 splitting off to the right.
4. Take the left fork of the split following I-195 South.
5. Move to the right as the road again splits. I-195 splits off to the right at the end of a mile long straight-a-way. The sign points to I-195 South (Downtown). Take the right exit to remain on I-195 South.
6. Again move to the right. This time take the first exit to the right. It is labeled "Rosewood Avenue." The right exit puts you on to Rosewood Avenue.
7. At the stop sign at the end of the exit, turn left from Rosewood Avenue on to McCloy Street.
8. Proceed past the UR (University of Richmond) stadium on your right. The first left will be Grant Street - do not take it!
9. Take the next left from McCloy Street on to Douglasdale Road and proceed straight up a long block on Douglasdale Road.
10. Take the first right onto South Belmont at the crest of a short hill on Douglasdale Road. South Belmont is just one block long.
11. At the end of South Belmont - make a right onto Garrett Street.
12. Make an immediate left from Garrett Street on to Sunset Lane - look carefully for the street sign because the writing on the sign has peeled and it has been difficult to read.
13. Proceed three blocks on Sunset Lane and then stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Sunset Lane and Bute Lane.
14. Cross Bute Lane and proceed on Sunset Lane.
15. Enter the third driveway on your right. This belongs to the second, street-facing house on the right. There is a mailbox labeled 1504 at the driveway entrance.

Directions to my home office from the south of Richmond - arriving from the South by Interstate 95 North - coming from Petersburg, North Carolina, etc.:

1. Take I-95 North towards Richmond.
2. As you cross the James River Bridge, get in to the right lane of I-95 North and watch for the landmark clock tower to appear over top of an overpass on the right. That is the signal to exit to locate the I-195 North exit.
3. Exit to the right at I-195 North.
4. Proceeed on I-195 north until you have to stop and pay a fifty-cent ($0.50) toll at the tool booth.
5. After exiting the toll booth move to the middle lane of I-195 north.
6. The road splits shortly after the toll booth. I-195 is the left hand split and the Powhite Parkway is the left hand split - from the middle lane take the left split but stay in the rightmost lane. The exit you want is just 1/10 of a mile away!
7. Once you have taken the left-hand of the split, take the first right exit labeled "Rosewood Avenue."
8. At the stop sign at the end of the exit, turn left from Rosewood Avenue on to McCloy Street.

Directions to my home office from the south side of Richmond - coming North on the Powhite Parkway, etc.:

1. Take the Powhite Parkway north across the Powhite bridge toward I-195/I-95 North.
2. Cross the Powhite bridge in middle lane.
3. At the end of the bridge get in the right hand lane of the left hand fork - away from downtown.
4. Exit the Powhite Parkway to the right at Douglasdale Road/UR Statium (Note: the exit is 1/10 of a mile past the fork and just past the end of the Powhite Bridge).
5. When you reach the end of the exit ramp - stop at the Stop sign. Then cross McCloy Street and proceed straight up a long block on Douglasdale Road.
6. Take the first right onto South Belmont at the crest of a short hill on Douglasdale Road. South Belmont is just one block long.
7. At the end of South Belmont - make a right onto Garrett Street.
8. Make an immediate left from Garrett Street on to Sunset Lane - look carefully for the street sign because the writing on the sign has peeled and it has been difficult to read.
9. Proceed three blocks on Sunset Lane and then stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Sunset Lane and Bute Lane.
