website paiken: personal

Hi y'all - as an ice-breaker I was once asked to state 2 truths about myself and one lie - the three I choose were:

  • I played keyboard in the children's band Dogs New Clothes
  • I've been on academic probation in nearly every degree program I've attended
  • I really enjoy my work.

Well, I really do enjoy my work, I'm a university (associate) professor. I wasn't the model student but did manage to complete my Ph. D. in 1989 (information technology) at George Mason University. So the lie is that I didn't really play keyboards, I play electric bass and not for Dog's New Clothes but for a related effort called NOB. I contributed electric bass and vocals to the their CD "Waiting for the Moon." I really enjoy both playing and listening to music in various forms with lots of different friends! The current incarnation is called "Smokin' NeoconS" (not pictured), and I've got .mp3s, photos of earlier bands, as well as some of my photography.

I travel quite a bit and have visited 19 countries so far. The picture at the right is not me visiting China but a museum feature from Amsterdam.

I also am the proud owner of a 15+ hand Tennessee Walking Horse named "Diamond." From here you can also view:

I host a whole bunch of creativity here, ranging from the "original" Landmark Theater site to various works of art (pictures, mp3s, and movies) contributed by former students and other friends.
