In March of 2001 I was invited to participate as Chair of the EBB Symposium of the Natural and artificial Intelligence Systems Organization (NASIO) information science innovations (ISI) 2001 Congress. As described in the Gulf News, the opening event was attended by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashed Al Maktoum - Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defense Minister (shown below). Organizing the event was - Professor Milad Sebaaly (on the left in the second picture) who heads up the IT program at the American University of Dubai (AUD). One of the event goals was the establishment of reciprocal agreements between AUD and a number of other universities around the world.
